Upland Birds
UPLAND GAME BIRDS
There is variety of game birds in Northwestern Canada. The term “ Upland ”refers to where these birds are often found and pursued as game. These birds occupy open alpine areas, shrub covered slopes, dry-land scrub, farmland hedgerows and mixed deciduous growths.
Upland Game Birds are classified as the “chicken type birds”, such as Doves and Pigeons.
Upland Game Birds in the Northwest include Turkey(bearded), Ptarmigan, Blue Grouse, Spruce(Franklin) Grouse, Ruffed Grouse, Quail, and Pheasants (cocks only).
Each region has regulations and bag limits in accordance with species population.
