THE LELAND AWARD
“A prestigious award just for guides!”
The Leland Award recognizes professionalism in the ranks of the guides of British Columbia, Yukon and the Northwest Territories.
The Annual award will be presented to a deserving guide at the annual general meeting. He or she will be selected by a special committee from the nominations submitted.
The Committee will be looking for those qualities and traits in a guide that helped make your hunting trip in 2008 a special and memorable experience.
The recipient of the award will receive a special bronze sculpture from Rick Taylor of World Wide Studio, along with a cheque from GOABC. The two runners-up will also receive a monetary award.

WHO CAN BE NOMINATED?
Any assistant guide employed during the past year by a member of the Guide Outfitters Association of British Columbia.
WHO CAN SUBMIT NOMINATIONS?
Any GOABC guide outfitter or client of a GOABC member can nominate an assistant guide.
A LETTER FROM THE 2009 LELAND AWARD WINNER
I would like to thank the members of GO ABC for selecting me as this year’s
recipient of the Leland Award. It is a great honor to be acknowledged by your
peers and clients for the work you do. I have been fortunate enough to work
with a few of the best in the past and they helped get me started off on the
right foot. With their direction, knowledge and patience I have learned many
ways that I will be able to pass on to others.
Rick Taylor’s bronze trophy has made a beautiful addition to our home and the donation from Mones & Associates and GO ABC was very gracious.
Being a guide is the best life you can live and sharing it with sportsmen from around the world makes it a lot of fun. I would also like to thank Jim Wilson and Barry Tompkins for their kind words and the GO ABC for the hard work they do keeping our industry going.
